Sr. CMF Designer - 2018
In 2018, I worked with former Lithuanian Professional Basketball Player Lamelo Ball on his first signature shoe. As the Sr. CMF designer, I chose color palettes, upper / outsole finishes, and materials to tell the stories that Melo wanted to create. My job also included working with the basketball phenom’s team of BBB representatives with the shoe design and packaging of the MB1. The first round of color ways included 3 color and material stories, which included “Lithuania”, “ Cotton Candy” and “BCA”, each unique in their own way.
These were presented to Lamelo and his team on what directions I could see his highly-anticipated shoes could go. Lamelo came with his ideas as well.
The Melo Ball 1 needed colors for his Lithuanian team. I provided home and away options as well as a pure white and breast cancer awareness color way.
I presented Melo possible logo designs that would eventually label the shoe as his.
Hypebeast, along with many other sport and fashion blogs and sites were quick to write stories about the shoes.
Instagram blew up with posts about the new MB1 color ways. Melo and his following created quite a buzz around the sneaker world.
Having Lamelo Ball as a client brings a lot of eyes to your work but never did I expect music videos being made for the shoes we worked on. Enjoy!
